You've found my trail but where will you find me?

I don’t practise an organised religion despite my 12 years of Catholic education, because I realised that music is my religion. Playing the piano has been always been a part of my life since I was five years old and today I can’t imagine living without music in my life.
Where’s the joy in life without the soul of jazz, music to dance to and lyrics to sing, remember and keep. Like in a feature film, the music we choose is the soundtrack to our lives, it dictates our moods and emotions as much as the people we enjoy it with. It’s true you can tell a lot about a person from their taste in music, and like a film, life without music is rather dull.
Music gives me inspiration, hope and company. I can worship it at a gig, a festival, or listen to it at home, in the car, at work or simply when I’m walking by myself. I can play it, share it, perform it and in doing so, give others the same satisfaction of enjoying something that is deeply personal. Music is one of the foundations of my friendships and part of so many lifelong memories I treasure. It has been the reason for parties, road trips and friendships that continues to awe me when a solo singer takes to the stage with nothing but her guitar and love of music.
Music is universal. We’re all different, we may listen to different tunes and sing in different languages, but the reasons why we make and enjoy music are the same. Sure, it can be offensive, boring, tasteless, loud and event plain bad, but we can live with that. There’s no doubt that music cures and just maybe it can also make tomatoes grow bigger. Music never started any wars or crucified anybody yet I believe it performs miracles every day. So what do I need religion for?
